Marvin F. VanDixon of 818 Maple Street, formerly 3223 Buffalo Road Allegany passed away Thursday June 19, 2014 at the home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. VanDixon was born on July 14, 1938 in Allegany. He was the son of Donald and Anna VanDixon. On April 16 1960 in the Showers United Methodist Church in Olean he married his wife of 51 years Ruth M. Carlson, who pre-deceased him on August 30, 2011. Marvin was a graduate of Allegany Central School. He owned and operated VanDixon Gas Station in Allegany for several years before going to work for Henry Hills Auto Parts in Olean. He retired from Henry Hills in 2000 after 31 years. Marvin enjoyed working around his home and going to the Christopher Columbus Lodge where he was a life member, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them and especially his grandchildren. Marvin is survived by a daughter, Styefanie L. (William Nixdorf) VanDixon of Virginia Beach, Virginia; a son, Stewart J. (Beth Hernadez) Vandixon of Olean; five grandchildren, Toni L. (John Niver) Chandler of Portville, Christopher J. (Brittany) Chandler of Oxnard, Ca., Olivia C. (Justin) Sands of Eldred, Nicole L. (Adam) Beard of Huston, Texas, and Wren E. VanDixon of Olean; three great grandchildren, Brennan, Kendra and Luke; a brother, James (Linda) VanDixon of Lake Gaston, NC; a sister, Dona Macauley of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. There will be on public visitation or services. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the donor's choice.
