Obituary of Melvin Herman McKee

Olean – Melvin H. McKee "Loving Father, Grandfather, & Great Grandfather" Melvin H. McKee, of 2245 West State Street, formerly of 4115 South Nine Mile Road Allegany and Eden Heights, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at the Pines Health & Rehab, following an illness. Melvin was born on December 18, 1934 in Big Run, PA and was a son of Clyde and Ruth Bowers McKee. On January 11, 1957, in Punxsutawney, PA, he married his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Mack, who predeceased him on May 30, 2013. Melvin attended school in Big Run, PA, where he worked on the family farm that he grew up on. He also worked as an auto mechanic and did upholstery for many years, before going to work for the B&O Railroad as a railroad mechanic, retiring after 26 years in September of 1998. Melvin and his wife, Shirley, moved to Allegany in 1998. He loved horses and dogs. Melvin was always willing to help people. He will fondly be remembered for his smile and his laugh. Melvin is survived by; 2 children, Kevin J. (Lynn Preston) McKee of Newfield and Leslie A. (Randy) Wind of Olean; 2 granddaughters, Kellie A. McKee and Katie M. McKee; a great granddaughter, Chelsea Ann McKee Caiza; and 3 siblings, Irene Smith and Gene McKee both of Punxsutawney, PA and Helen Yount of Big Run, PA. Along with his loving wife, Shirley, Melvin was predeceased by, his parents, 2 infant grandsons, Randy John and John Joseph Wind; and a brother, Don McKee. Friends will be received at the Creekside Chapel on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Adam Stein, Pastor, will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion, Charles Harbel Post #892 Team.
