John was another brother long before he became my brother-in-law. John worked with Billie @ King's Greenhouse & Dad frequently took Grandma Page home to the Heinz's after church.
One of my favorite memories is the Great Water Fight at Lucas's East State home. John & I plus another child threw water out the upstairs bathroom window. To do so quickly, we plugged the tub & ran the water at a speed to keep up with our pail filling. Unfortunately we didn't turn the water off or pull the plug when Mom & Dad came home & we went downstairs. When the overflow became apparent, John quickly corrected the cause & left. We didn't see him again for some time.
Fortunately John did return, married the Love of his life & shared 68 years with Bertie while raising 3 fine sons & being a very good man.
