Obituary of Roy Herbert Hamilton

Hinsdale – Roy H. Hamilton "Loving Husband & Father" Roy H. Hamilton, of 3809 Main Street, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness. Roy was born on April 24, 1943 in Hinsdale and was the son of Freemont A. and Violet A. Dutton Hamilton. On December 14, 1968, in Sumter, SC, he married his wife of 52 years, Madonna J. Hickman, who survives. Roy was a 1962 graduate of Hinsdale High School. He served in the US Navy from November 6, 1962 to October 28, 1966 and then served in the US Navy Reserves for 2 years. Roy then enlisted in the US Air Force and served from June 11, 1968 to June 30, 1984. After returning from his service, he worked at Community Bank in the maintenance department for 20 years from 1984 to 2004, until his retirement. Roy enjoyed fishing, but he truly loved his family and spoiling them, especially his grandchildren. Along with his loving wife, Roy is survived by; 4 children, Jodi L. (David) Randall of Cuba, Laura M. Hamilton and Marcie J. Karroach both of Hinsdale, and Roy H. (Billie) Hamilton, II of Portville; 4 granchildren, Jessica, Steven, Samantha, and Courtney; 1 great granddaughter, Phoebe; 3 siblings, Arlene Kent of Buffalo, Mary Jo (John) Tetlak of Hinsdale, and Dick (Linda) Hamilton of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by, 3 siblings, Willard Hamilton, Irene Farwell, and Esther Simmons, and a son-in-law, Joe Karroach. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean, on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. Mr. Monroe B. Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olean. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892 Ritual Team.
