Cuba – Dawn M. Best "Loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother"
Dawn M. Best, of 356 Linwood Drive, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at her home, following an illness.
Dawn was born on February 8, 1962 in Olean and was a daughter of Thomas L. and Louise E. Decker Scott. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Roger Maynard, Sr. On March 21, 1996, in Wellsville, she married her husband of 24 years, Robert L. Best, who survives.
Dawn was a 1981 graduate of Portville High School. She ran a day care after school from 1985-1997. Dawn worked as a custodian at a number of places including Portville Central School, SubCon Industries, and most recently the Cuba American Legion until March of 2020. She also worked as a cook at Napoli's for a period of time.
Dawn was an avid Bills Fan, as well as, Notre Dame Sports. She enjoyed gardening and loved her animals, but she truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were most precious to her. Dawn was the love of Robert's life.
Along with her loving husband, Dawn is survived by; 3 daughters, Thersa (Edgar Sorensen) Williams of Olean, Amy Peters of Salamanca, and Pattie Best of Cuba; 5 grandchildren, Lana Mark, Louise Scott, Sean Gardner, Sabastian Mikulski, and Katarzyrn Mikulski; 8 siblings, Esther (Paul) Desnoyers of Allegany, Carol (Randall) Curtis of Duke Center, PA, Thomas (Celeste) Scott of Southern Pines, NC, Mary (Donald) Haddock of Grifton, NC, Patty (Gary) Baldwin and Izora Maynard both of Olean, Joyce Maynard of Jamestown, and Jonathan Maynard, Sr. of Olean; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nieces; and a close friend, Janet Seeley.
Dawn was predeceased by; her mother, stepfather, and father; 2 children, Robert L. Best, Jr. in 1997 and Patsy Best in 2000; and 2 brothers, Roger Maynard, Jr. and Freddie Maynard.
