Carole from Elizabeth Johnson (Class of '75)
I remember Steve as though it were just yesterday that he was standing in front of me with his quirky dry humor and his constant, fearless sense of adventure, his warmth and the little sparkle in his eyes, that slow, silly smile that usually meant trouble, his genuine humility and quiet, certain sense of his place in the world. And because he found the one woman in the universe who was just right for him, he and you were the rocks that built so many foundations for so many young people over the years. If Steve and Carole were in the world, everything was on an even keel. You completed each other.
So hey, lady, take special care of yourself right now. Steve has left us enough wonderful memories that we can enjoy one every day and still have a bunch left when it's time for us to join him. Even now, if there are adventures to be had, you can bet Steve is assessing the choices with that little gleam in his eye.

When I was a JMC student at SBU, I got to know Mr. McNall well, as he could always be found in the JMC building. He and Prof. McNall told me all kinds of things about their lives together and their love of HAM radio. He gave off a passion and love for life, most of all his wife. We could all take a lesson of the type of man to be in life, which is something I'll continue to do. Rest easy Mr. McNall

I haven't seen Stephen in 56 years but he was my best friend in grade school and also my friend in high school. The last few years I kept in touch a little bit via Facebook. In school he liked and was good at science. From his FB postings I gathered that he liked cats, books, and ham radio. I also got the impression that he knew a lot about computers. His passing is a real loss. RIP.
