Nico was one of the first New York dairy industry people I met after I joined the Cornell faculty in 1978. At first, it was easy to see that he was an incredibly easy man to like. He had an easy charm, open attitude and engaging wit. After you got to know him more in a professional or business way, you also learned he was an easy man to respect. I learned a lot from him and enjoyed our interactions very much. He was a person who positively impacted the lives of so many people. That is a rare gift.
