Bolivar – Jerry R. Gleason "Loving Husband and Father"
Jerry R. Gleason, of 8877 County Road 5, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the Pines Health and Rehab in Olean.
Jerry was born on Nov. 13th, 1944 in Coudersport, PA and was a son of Levi and Lois Hoague Gleason. On Dec. 31, 1974, at the Portville Presbyterian Church, he married his wife of 45 years, MaryLee Wilkins Yates, who survives.
Jerry had a life long passion for the outdoors. He loved to spend time with family and friends hunting, fishing, trapping, horseback riding, and more. He shared his love of God's creation with many of his children, grandchildren and friends. Many memories were made as he enthusiastically shared his time, wisdom, knowledge and love doing what he loved with people he loved. He had a heart for helping others, a deep love for his family and a unique ability to make each of his family members feel especially favored. Above all, Jerry lived his life devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Along with his devoted and loving wife MaryLee, Jerry is survived by; his 7 children, Lee (Cindy) Yates, Darla (Barry) Rockefeller, Barb (Don) Rockefeller, Tammy (Joe) Blauvelt, Alan (Lara) Yates, David (Jaime) Gleason, and Leah (Garth) Witherell; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Doris Ianson and Janyce Riehle; a twin sister Judy (Daryl) Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; Levi and Lois Gleason; 3 brothers James, Dick and Bill, 2 sisters Sis Brown and Freda Reed, and a step-son Terry Yates.
Friends will be received at the Obi Community Church, 1948 State Route 305, Obi, on Friday February 28, 2020 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. David Cook, Pastor, along with the Rev. Alan Yates, Pastor of the Central Baptist Church and Jerry's son, will officiate. Burial will be at Obi Cemetery in Little Genesee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clarksville Ambulance Service, 8854 County Road 40, Friendship, New York 14739.
