Obituary of Ethel M. Ramsey

Ethel M. (Heckathorn) Ramsey of 17 Longview Dr., passed away July 14, 2014 at Hart Comfort House in Wellsville, following a lengthy illness. Ethel was born Nov. 3, 1940 in Silver Creek and was a daughter of Cecil L. and Myrtle M. Fox Heckathorn. On June 8, 1984, she married her husband of almost 10 years, Richard Ramsey, who predeceased her Aug. 25, 1993. Ethel worked as a Customer Service Representative at Koike Aronson for 25+ years, retiring in 2002. She volunteered as an EMT for the Delevan First Aid Squad and as a Head Start Grandma. Ethel was very active with the "Blessed Sacrament Red Diamond Color Guard," a youth color guard. She was an Avid NASCAR fan, with her favorite driver being Kyle Petty. Ethel loved cats, reading, puzzles, and travelling with her husband, especially to North Carolina, but she especially loved her nieces and nephews. Ethel is survived by a brother, Douglas E. (Suzanne) Heckathorn of Delevan; a sister, Linda (William) Dawson of Yorkshire; and several nieces & nephews. A private Graveside Service will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Joe Gullo, Pastor at the St. Mary's Church in Arcade will officiate. Burial will be in the Delevan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Hart Comfort House, 141 East State Street, Wellsville, New York 14895.
