Olean – William Thomas Martin "Beloved Father"
William T. Martin, formerly of Worden Avenue and Aspen Towers, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday Sept. 22, 2019, at The Pines Health & Rehab, Olean following a lengthy illness.
Bill was born on Oct. 30, 1937 in Chicago, IL and was a son of William Henry and Lydia Miles Martin. He was a graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, IL. Bill went on in school to receive several degrees, including his Associates Degree from Thornton Township Junior College in Harvey, IL; his B.S.B.A. from Drake University in Des Moines, IA; and Printing from BOCES in Ellicottville. He also earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certificate.
Bill worked as an accountant and tax preparer in Des Moines, IA; Chicago, IL; Buffalo, and Olean. He belonged to various professional associations, including the National Association of Accountants. Bill was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, NY and a member of the Evans Masonic Lodge #524 in Evanston, IL, for over 50 years. Bill was a also an avid Buffalo Bills Fan
Bill is survived by; his daughters, Ruth Martin of Olean, Heidi Chafik of Williamsburg, VA, Marybeth (Michael) Hall of Jackson, MI, and Martha Martin of Jamestown; the mother of his children Joyce Young of Buffalo; a sister-in-law, Toni Martin of Hoffman Estates, IL; a brother Roger Timothy (Judy) Martin of Akron, OH; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by; his parents, William and Lydia Martin; his stepmother, Eleanor Martin; his brother, Donald Martin; his daughter, Susan Martin Cummings; and a grandson Ricky Cummings.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc.,646 East State Street, Olean on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 from 12 noon until 1:00 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Chad M. Sayers, Pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. The Enchanted Mountain Lodge 252 of Olean will conduct a memorial service in the funeral home at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
Bill's family would like express their appreciation to all the Staff at the Pines Health and Rehab in Olean for their excellent care that they gave to Bill for the many years he was there. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Friends of the Pines.
