Frank U. "Skip" McLaughlin formerly of 310 E. Riverside Drive, Olean, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in the Hyder House Hospice Home in Dover, NH. Frank was born on August 15, 1918 in Cuba NY and was a son of Frank B. and Dorothy Loverage McLaughlin. On March 6, 1943 in Fort Mammoth, NJ he married his wife of 70 years, June M. Davies who predeceased him on May 25, 2013. Frank served in the US Army Air Corps from July 17, 1942 to Dec. 8, 1945. He worked as a Sears & Roebuck Appliance Repairman for over twenty years, retiring in mid 1980's. He was a two time recipient of the Sears & Roebuck Best Service Man of the Year Award. Even after his retirement Frank could always be called upon to fix an appliance or repair something that was broken. He was always working around his home either in his shop located in the back for the garaged or in there flower or vegetable the garden. He moved to Dover New Hampshire in 2008 to be closer to their daughter Ruth. He was a Life Long Member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Olean and for the past 6 years was a member of the St. John's Methodist Church of Dover. One of Frank true love was Masonry. He became a Mason on July 19, 1954 and was a 60 year member of the Enchanted Mountain Lodge F&AM #252 in Olean, where he was a Past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master. He also became a member of the Electa Chapter #84 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where he served as Worthy Patron and in several grand offices. Frank was a member of the Olean Court #19 of the Order of the Amaranth, where he served as Royal Patron and in several grand offices. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and York Rite Masons. Frank was the Past Commander General of the New York State Masonic War Veterans, the highest office in the state. He was also a member of the Shriners, and the Knight York Cross of Honor and was very active in the Masonic Temple Association Board of Directors. Frank was an advisor to the DeMolay Chapter in Olean. He became an Honorary Member of two lodges in Dover, NH and was presented with his 55 year membership certificate and pin by the Grand Master of New Hampshire. Surviving Frank are two daughters, Ruth A. DiCicco of Dover, NH, and Linda F. Berget of Palmer, Alaska; three grandchildren, Wendy (Robert) Long-Shamburger of Anchorage, Alaska, Jeff (Angela) Lane of Rye, NH, and Jennifer (Ryan) Lane-Leary of Dover; nine great grandchildren, Reilly & Reagan Laery, Morgan & Eryn Lane, Amy & Emma & Robert Shamburger, and Zachary & Dominic DiCicco; and many nieces & nephews. In addition to his wife Frank was pre-deceased by a brother, Louis McLaughlin; a sister, Marion Swatzler; and a son-in-law, Dennis A. DiCicco. Friends will be received today, July 15, 2014 Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home 646 E. State Street, Olean, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at which time funeral services will be held. At 7:00 pm funeral services will begin with Members of Olean Enchanted Mountain Lodge #252 conducting a Masonic Funeral Service followed by The Rev. Suzanne M. Block, Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church. Burial with full Military Honor's accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Herbal Post 892, will be in Mount View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Masonic Temple Association Building Fund, P.O. Box 404 Olean, New York 14760. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
