Olean - Gerald J. Weber "Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather"
Gerald J. Weber, of 1315 Plum Street, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Jerry was born on June 20, 1940 in Olean and was a son of Paul F. and Hilda J. Peterson Weber. On June 10, 1967 in Olean, he married his loving wife of 51 years, Barbara Keller, who survives.
Jerry attended Olean Schools and then enlisted in the US Army for 6 years. He volunteered for the Vietnam War, but was sent instead to Korea, where he spent his last two years of service. Jerry then worked for Dresser Industries, where he worked in almost all of the departments, for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 2002.
Jerry was a member of the St. John's Roman Catholic Church for many years where, he served as an alter boy. He was an avid outdoor sportsman. Jerry enjoyed many hunting trips with family and later in life truly enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Andrew, to see who could catch the biggest fish. He also took up golfing and spent many an early morning on the St. Bonaventure Golf Course. Jerry especially enjoyed being in the Geritol Tournament every summer.
Jerry was a carpenter, painter and an artist. His controversial cartoons at work should bring back a lot of smiles to his fellow employees.
Along with his loving wife, Jerry is survived by; a daughter, Phyllis A. Crowner of Ocean Springs, MS; 3 sons, George J. Weber of Pittsburgh, PA, Frank P. Weber of Biloxi, MS, and Daniel R. (Caroline) Weber of Olean; 5 wonderful grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Michael, Katherine, and Tydus; a sister Paula (John) Markovs of Silver Springs, MD; 2 brothers, William (Joanne) Weber of Holly Springs, NC, and Richard (Patty) Weber, of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by a sister Audrey (Raymond) Kenneson.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. Deacon Richard Matthews, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Olean.
