Olean - Jean E. Follett "Loving Mother & Grandmother"
Jean E. Follett, formerly of 324 Paragon Ave., passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the Pines Health and Rehab, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born on Feb. 23, 1930 in Belmont and was a daughter of Lynn and Sarah Windus Corbin. On August 30, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Belmont, she married her husband of 61 years, Melville F. Follett, Jr., who predeceased her on Nov. 22, 2014.
Jean was a 1948 graduate of Belmont Central School. She then went to Nursing School at Edward J. Meyer Memorial Hospital in Buffalo. Jean worked as a Registered Nurse at Olean General Hospital for about 2 years before going to work at St. Francis Hospital in 1965, working there for 24 years until her retirement on Dec. 18, 1989. She was also an Olean General Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for 10 years.
Jean was a 53 year member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Amaranth. Jean was a member of the Red Hatters Association in New York and Florida.
Jean is survived by; a son, Melville F. (Betty) Follett, III of Hornell; 3 daughters, Melanie E. Nichols of Olean, Pamela L. (Richard C.) Barton of Tampa, FL, and Natalie M. (Michael) Lauber of Buffalo; 2 grandsons, Richard N. Barton, and Stephen J.P. Follett; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Molly DiCapua; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Jean was predeceased by 2 brothers, Calvin and Eldyn Corbin, a sister Marion F. Lang, and a sister-in-law, Melva Howard.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean on today, October 19, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Olean.
