Rome - Elena M. Ellsworth Meacham
Elena M. Ellsworth Meacham, 62, formerly of Allegany, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital in Utica, following a long battle with diabetes.
Elena was born on Nov. 14, 1955 in Batavia and was the adopted daughter of the late Wendell and Jessie Lee (Burbank) Ellsworth. On June 28, 1988, she married her loving husband Michael R. Meacham , who predeceased her in 2001. Elena was a 1974 graduate of Allegany Central School.
Elena is survived by; a daughter Jessica (Bradley) Wilson and a son, Christopher Meacham both of Rome; a grandson Skylar Wilson; a sister Denise Dee Lawton of Sacramento, CA; a niece Angel Lee (Wiley) Minges; a grand niece, Madison Renee Minges; and a grand nephew, Mason Nolan Riehle.
Along with her loving husband, Elena was predeceased by; an infant son, Brian Matthew Meacham
In 2001, Elena pursued the journey of searching for her biological family, which lead to the Tonawanda-Seneca Indian Reservation in Basom, where she was reunited with family 5 siblings, Veronica (Anne Marie) of Sacramento, CA, Lori, Brandon, Joyce, and Craig Reuben all of Basom; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by; her mother, "Tootie" Smith; and 2 siblings, Wade Smith and Mickey Reuben.
Friends will be received on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean, where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Alan Yates, Pastor of the Central Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family, in the Allegany Cemetery.
