Obituary of Edward Leon McRae

Portville – Edward L. McRae    

 

            Edward L. McRae, of 9 Colwell St., formerly of Haskell Rd. and Florida, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018, at his home, following a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

 

            Edward was born on March 25, 1959 in Wellsville and was a son of Archie R. and Lois McRae, Sr.  He was formerly married to Virginia C. Hart, and he later married Jammie L. Higginbotham.

 

            Edward was a 1977 graduate of Angelica High School.  He moved to Jacksonville, FL, where he worked as a maintenance man for a trailer park for about 8 years, and then he worked at Vangard Plastic for more than 10 years until they closed.  Edward loved planting flowers, mowing grass, and working around his home.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

 

            Edward is survived by; 3 children, Joseph R. (Winky) Provorse of Olean, Amy Lynn (Joseph) Miller of Portville, and Richard R. (Amy) Steadman of Olean; many grand and great grandchildren; his stepmother, Susan McRae of Allegany; 12 siblings, Archie McRae, James McRae, Kirk McRae, Mike McRae, Jay Hamrick, LeEtta Burkhard, Gloria Villa, Marge Atkinson, Jane Bentley, Sandy Hotchkiss, Michelle Cowles, and Katie Brockel; and many nieces and nephews.

 

            Edward was predeceased by; his parents; a daughter, Heather Jo McRae on June 29, 2009; and 2 sisters, Georgia Rose and Karen Wolfgang.

 

            A Memorial Gathering will be held at the St. Stephen's Club in Olean on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
