Obituary of Richard J. Mettler

Olean – Richard J. "Dick" Mettler     "Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather"

            Richard J. Mettler, 90, of 350 W. Highland Ave, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Cuba Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

            Richard was born on August 27, 1927 in Olean and was a son of Max H. and Erma I. Darling Mettler.  On July 12, 1956 in Olean, he married his wife of 61 years, Rena M. Coon, who survives.

            Richard drove city bus for Bluebird for 13 years, then he worked with Radio Equipment for 12 years, and then for Nicholas TV Service as a parts manager for 2 years, retiring due to illness in 1974.  He enjoyed computers, drives, and camping in the motor home.

            Along with his loving wife, Richard is survived by; 3 children, Ronald J. Mettler of Dixon, TN, Ronda M. (Thomas) Turner, and Renee M. (John) Luty both of Olean; 6 grandchildren, Trisha Turner, Tiffany Turner, Brandon Turner, Rachel Waters, Angela Reed, and Michael Luty; and 3 great grandchildren.

            Richard was predeceased by; a son Richard M. Mettler; and 3 siblings, Leola Tidd in 1996, Westley Mettler in 1993, and Walter Mettler in 1942.

            Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, at which time a Funeral Service will be held.  The Rev. Adam D. Stein, Pastor of the Creekside Chapel, will officiate.
