Bradford – Nina E. McMullen     "Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother"

 

            Nina E. McMullen, 98, formerly of Prospect Avenue, Aspen Manor, and Eden Heights, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, following a lengthy illness.

 

            Nina was born on Feb. 8, 1920 in Olean and was a daughter of George and Lola Root Weatherell.  On April 4, 1948 at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, she married her husband of 30 years, Richard J. McMullen, who predeceased her on July 26, 1978.

 

            Nina was a 1938 graduate of Olean High School.  She worked at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo during World War II.  Nina also worked in several area stores including A.E. Ewing Company.  She was a life-long member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she was a former member of the choir, the Altar Guild, and a Sunday School Teacher.  Nina loved the Olean YMCA and her friends there and was a member there for over 25 years, until she turned 90.  She was a former member of the board of Directors for the YMCA and was an active volunteer.  Nina danced with the Enchanted Mountain Line Dancers and the Twin Tier Twisters at many local events.  She also loved dancing with Dance Arts, where she started at age 67.  Nina loved the theater and appeared in several musicals with the Olean Community Theater and Theater Workshop.  She especially loved walking in the outdoors and her flowers in her younger years.

 

            Nina is survived by; 4 sons, Jeffrey R. McMullen of Cuba,  John A. McMullen of Olean, Michael J. (Krislyn) McMullen of Elizabethtown, PA, and Daniel R. McMullen of Cheriton, VA; 5 daughters, Kathleen A. (Jon) Champlin, and Maureen E. McMullen both of Cuba, Holly E. Johnson of Portville, Peggy (Gary Redington) Cradduck and Julie (Sam Lemon)Bellamy both of Olean; 11 grandchildren,  Erik (Hillary) Johnson, Jeanne (Richard) Ortiz, Alyssa McMullen, Rachel McMullen, Joshua and Emily Cradduck, Casey, Keriann, and Jacob Bellamy, and Kaitlyn and Matthew McMullen; and 7 great grandchildren, Kiera, Avianna, Tah Jae, Gavin, Brekin, Sophie, and Gabriella.

 

            Along with her loving husband and parents, Nina was predeceased by; 4 brothers, Infant Harold, John, James, and Ronald Weatherell; and 4 sisters, M. Roberta Ueblhear, Martha Matthews, Ann Judge, and Alice Moore.

As per Nina's wishes there will be no public visitation.  A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at 11:00 am.  The Rev. Kim E. Rossi, will officiate.  Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery.
