Olean – Vivian C. Pyrkos "Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother"
Vivian C. Pyrkos, of 208 South 16th Street, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
Vivian was born on January 8, 1950 in Gowanda and was a daughter of William J. and Odette C. Liard Brooks. In 1983 she married her husband of 34 years, Francis A. Pyrkos, who survives.
Vivian worked at Westons Shoppers City and then at the Buffalo News as an independent dealer. She worked at Walmart for more than five years, retiring in 2001 due to illness. Vivian enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas, going for long rides in the car, bowling, fishing, cooking, and yelling at her husband, Frank, every day, but she truly loved her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Along with her loving husband, Vivian is survived by; 5 children, Marie A. (Daniel) Busckist and Clara O. (Thomas) Notaro both of Hamburg, William J. Wilson, Francis A. (Jessica) Pyrkos, and Todd A. Pyrkos all of Olean; 12 grandchildren, Thomas, Allan, Chelsea, Mariah, Todd Jr., Patty, Klarisa, Benjamin, Frankie Jr., Dylan, Daniel, and Brooke; 1 great granddaughter, Hazel Rae; 5 siblings, Bonnie (Bryon) Liskow of Otto, Sherry (Paul) Paul Bishop and Daniel Brooks both of Little Valley, Edwina Brooks of Arcade, and Francine (William) Skinner of North Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. The Rev. David E. Tourville, Associate Pastor, will celebrate.
