Obituary of Mathew Robert McCarthy

Olean – Mathew Robert "Mike" McCarthy "Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather"

            Mathew R. McCarthy of 503 Putnam Street passed away on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 in the Absolut Care of Allegany following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

            Mike was born Dec. 27, 1940 in Cuba, NY and was a son of the late James and Hazel Brown McCarthy. on Dec. 8, 1962 in Jamestown he married his wife of 55 years, Deanna Dimitri, who survives.

            Mike attended Cuba Schools. He worked as a laborer before joining the Erie Local Roofer's Union, where he worked for 30 years retiring in 2002. Mike also ran a Tree Service for many years through out his life. he loving being in the outdoor's, but he really loved his wife and family and enjoyed spending time with them and taking family vacation and especially to Florida.

            Mike was a member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Jamestown.

            Along with his loving wife, Mike is survived by; 3 children, Denise M. (Archie) Deming of Allegany,  Stacie L. Halgas, and Carey A. McCarthy both of Olean; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, James McCarthy of Cuba; a sister, Charlotte (Bud) Johnson of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

            Mike was pre-deceased by 4 siblings.

Private Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean. Father J. Jarrod Russell, Pastor of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Jamestown, officiated. Burial was in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean, NY.
