Olean – Joseph A. Smucinski "Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather"

 

            Joseph A. Smucinski of 843 Garden Ave. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

 

            Joe was born on June 6, 1950 in Olean and was a son of the Late Joseph and Madeline Rosia Smucinski. On Feb. 24, 1973 in Ridgeway, PA he married his loving wife of just under 45 years, Barbara M. Imhof, who survives.

 

            Joe was a graduate of Olean High School.  He worked at Dresser Clark until he was drafted into the US Army on April 23, 1970 to Dec. 10, 1971. After his service he returned to Olean where he worked as a bar tender at the Pulaski Club for a period of time. He then when to work at Olean Standard Equipment for several years before going to work at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in the maintenance department for about 10 years. In 1985 began working at RPJ Ready Print until his illness 2010.

 

            Joe was a former member of Transfiguration Church. He enjoyed hunting and working with wood and building things. Joe was also a avid Cleveland Browns fan and a member St. Stephen's Club.  He was a Life Member of the Pulaski Club. Most of all, Joe loved his wife and family.  He enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandsons whom he adored.

 

            Surviving Joe besides wife are 2 children - Joseph A. Smucinski and Kathleen A. Smucinski, both of Olean, 2 grandsons - Ethan J. and Grady Smucinski-O'Brien, a brother - Gerald T. (Marg Butler) Smucinski and a sister - Lucille A. (Robert) Sherman both of Olean and several nieces and nephews.

 

            Private Funeral Services were held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 646 E. State St., Olean. Rev. F. Patrick Melfi, Pastor, of St. John's Catholic Church officiated. Members of the Allegany American Legion Charles Herbal Post 892 Ritual Team conducted full military honors.
