Born: Violet Louise Fook Kong on February 28, 1925 in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies Died: September 17, 2014 in the Healthcare Center of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, NY. Daughter of James and Esther Stanley Fook Kong of Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. She was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on August 15, 1945 and professed her final religious vows on August 16, 1952. Sister Mary Immaculene faithfully lived the Mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany for over 65 years. In Kingston, Jamaica she attended grade schools at St. Anthony's from 1934-39, graduating from Immaculate Conception high school in 1943. For over 40 years and in numerous capacities, Sister ministered in Jamaica in commercial education. She later pursued an interest in accounting, studying Business Administration at the Tech Age Business School in Malden, MA, graduating in 1976. The resulting skills served her well, allowing Sister to provide various office services for the Franciscan Friars on Arch Street in Boston, MA for several years. In 2003, Sister retired to St. Raphael's Convent in West Medford, MA and in 2012, was welcomed home by her sisters at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, NY. Sister Mary Immaculene is predeceased by her parents, a sister and brother. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Daphne Alvarez, several nieces and nephews, as well as her very close family friends, Mr. and Mrs. John Crowley of Arlington, MA. A Wake Service is scheduled at 6:30 p.m., September 21st in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on September 22nd , followed by burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, New York. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean, New York.
