Obituary of John Henry Brown

John H. Brown passed away on Wednesday, Sep. 10, 2014 at the home of Patricia Gleason, the love of his life, at 3485 Route 16N, Olean following a short battle with lung cancer. John was born March 9, 1957 in Montgomery, AL and was a son of John Henry and Annice Boswell Brown, Sr. He was raised by his mother Annice Brown and Arthur Lee Frazier, who pre-deceased him on Sept. 8, 2008. John met the love of his life Patricia L. Gleason in 1979, who survives. John was born and raised in Montgomery Alabama. After moving to Olean in 1980, he began working at Boser Gravel Pit. In 1985, John began working at Blue Bird Bus Company, where he was a "Jack of all Trades," including being diesel mechanic, auto body repairman, cleaner, and with his CDL he could drive the buses. He retired from Blue Bird Bus Co. in 2000 after 20 years. John enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, and he was an avid Bingo player. Truly his grandchildren where the "Apple of His Eye" and he loved them and enjoyed being with them. John is survived by the Love of His Life, Patricia Gleason of Olean; his mother, Annice Boswell Brown; five children, Darnell Jones of Atlanta, GA, Tiffney Brown of Montgomery, AL, LaDonna Harris of Montgomery, AL, Wendy Gleason of Olean, and Richard Vansell of Corning; four grandchildren including, Summer & Quincy; and nine siblings, Jimmy Stovall, Arthur (Lorienda) Brown, both of Olean, Bernice, Veronica, Harold, Dennis, Twins - Derrick & Eric, and Melinda Brown all of Montgomery, AL. Along with the man who raised him, John was predeceased by an infant sister. A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, New York 14760.
