Obituary of Peter J. Sturdevant

Peter J. "Pete" Sturdevant of 402 Second Ave., passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Olean General Hospital. Pete was born May 13, 1955 in Olean and was the son of William H. and Mary J. Weed Sturdevant. He graduated from Olean High School in 1973. Pete worked at Dresser for a period of time before working as car salesman for many years. He then started his own business "Pete Painting and Tree Service" business, which own and operated for several years. Pete was a member of the St. John's Church and the Christopher Columbus Lodge. He enjoyed playing billiards, fishing, and playing the piano, which he did at local nursing homes, as a volunteer. Pete was honored to received the volunteer of the year award from the local nursing homes. Pete is survived by his mother, Mary J. Sturdevant of Olean; two children, Mark A. (Gail) Sturdevant of Austin, PA, and Candace M. Sturdevant of Galeton, PA; one grandson, Andrew R. Sturdevant; and a sister, Mary Kay Sturdevant of St. Petersburg, FL. Pete was predeceased by his Father, William H. Sturdevant on June 20, 2012. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, New York 14760, Friday, February 20, 2015 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by a prayer service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon at the St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Edward J. Sheedy, Pastor of the St. John's Church, will celebrate.
