Obituary of James L. Schnell

James L. Schnell of 700 Grandview Ave. passed away Thursday August 27, 2015 in the Mercy Hospital Buffalo following a short illness.
Jim was born on April 26, 1934 in Olean and was a son of the late Karl and Zela Sherwood Schnell. On April 4, 1959 in the Bethany Lutheran Church on the corner of 6th Street and West State St. in Olean he married his loving wife of 51 years, Martha L. Frable, who predeceased him on Dec. 3, 2010.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of Olean High School. He continued his education and then graduated from the College of Business Administration at the Syracuse University in 1956. Jim served in the US Army from Aug. 10, 1956 to Aug. 8, 1958. He began his accounting career with Ernst and Ernst Accounting in Buffalo for a period of time before joining Sheeser, Gallmeier, Schnell & Caldwell in Olean. Jim retired after about 20 years in the 1970's. Jim continued working out of his home on a self employed bases. Jim was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church. and While in High School, Collage and the Army he was known for his Trumpet playing and he even played in the 283rd Army Band at Fort Benning.
Surviving are his two children, Daniel R. Schnell and Linda M. Schnell and her children Lily Y. and Mikkal L. Schnell both of Olean; and his step father, Milburn A. Cunningham of Olean & Fl.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Marie Meeks, Pastor of the Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church 1706 Lincoln Ave, Olean, New York 14760 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
