Harley J. Poore, of 6236 Rawson Road, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness. Harley was born April 2, 1931 in Wapaca, Wisconsin and was the son of Chester and Freda Brodin Poore. In 1950, he married his wife of 49 years Margaret J. Howard, who predeceased him in 1999. On Sep. 30, 2000, at the Cuba United Methodist Church, he married Shirley Rambuski, who survives. Harley served in the Navy from March 21, 1952 to March 27, 1956. He worked for Frank C. Resch and then for ACME Electric in Cuba before going to work at Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation as a Planning Supervisor for the Southwest Region. He retired in 1990 after 34 years. Harley was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and growing garlic. Harley loved the beach & the ocean and enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach where he and his wife wintered for 11 years. He was also a life member of the Cuba Fire Department, where he served as Chief from 1972 to 1975 and was also a life member of the Volunteer Firemen's Association of Allegany County and also the Cuba American Legion Post #655. Harley truly love his family and enjoyed spending time with them and especially his grand and great grandchildren who were the "Apple of His Eye". Along with his loving wife, Harley is survived by three children, Randy B. (Sue) Poore of Alexandria, VA, The Rev. Michael B. (Jennifer) Poore of Angola, and Tammy L. (Chris) Baker of Portville; four stepchildren, Elizabeth Betsy (Tim) Resch of Cuba, Debbie (Brad) Thompson of Wellsville, Edwin (Trina Baumsteiger) Rambuski of Templeton, CA, and Kathy Rambuski of Wellsville; nine grandchildren, Douglas & Daniel Poore, Lisa Furr, Katie Poore, Justin & Taylor Baker, Gwen Karn, Jayson Dunlap, and Edwin Hults; thirteen great grandchildren, Ben, Hanna & Claire Poore, Jensen Furr, Dominick, Cameron & Liam Dunlap, Chloe & Clifford Karn, Taylor & Trinity Roulo and Macy & Mia; and several nieces & nephews. Harley was pre-deceased by two brothers, Sherman & Ralph Poore; a sister, Goldie Guild, and twin sisters, Joan Wigent and Jean Hewitt. Friends will be received on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba. and also in the Cuba United Methodist Church on Tuesday July 14, 2015 from 10:00am to 11:00am at which time Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Tim M. Gleason, Pastor, and the Rev. Michael B. Poore, Harley's son will co-officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery, Cuba NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cuba Fire Department or to the Cuba United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
