Clara E. Lang of 5725 Rte 305 North, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, following a brief illness.
Clara was born July 3, 1912 in Olean on her family farm on the Windfall Road and was a daughter of John and Theda Mae Benham Clark. On Feb. 26, 1938 she married John Lang, who predeceased her in 1997.
Clara attended the Haskell Country School House. In the early 1930's, she worked at the Woolworth lunch counter. Clara was a house wife and bookkeeper with her husband for their wholesale food business, which they operated from the 1940's until 1968. They then owned and operated the Cuba Liquor Store until their retirement in 1977.
Clara attended the First Presbyterian Church in Cuba. She enjoyed bowling in the Cuba Leagues, boating on Cuba Lake, and took pride in her home, maintaining it herself through last summer. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends around her kitchen table, and if there was music playing, Clara was dancing.
Clara is survived by a son, Karl (Alice) Lang of Englewood, FL; a daughter, Linda (John) Zimmerman of Cuba; four grandchildren, John (Betsy) Zimmerman of Cuba, Ana (Theresa) Lang of Charlotte, NC, Barbie (Andre) Feger of Seminole, FL, and Brandi (Nick) Porcello of Allegany; three great grandchildren, Clara & Everett Feger of Seminole, Fl, and Elsa Porcello of Allegany.
Along with her loving husband, Clara was predeceased by her three sisters, Cecile Clark, Nina Phillips, and Mildred Colerick; and her brother, Elwin Clark, whom she took care of in their later years.
There will be no Public Visitation. A Celebration of Clara's life will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
