Betty Jane Johnson Kightlinger, formerly of 2714 Oaks Road, Olean, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at the Absolut of Allegany, following a lengthy illness. Betty was born Sept. 21, 1934 in Keating Township, PA and was a daughter of Donald P. and Beatrice J. Canfield Johnson. She was formerly married to Richard J. Malone. On March 24, 1995, at the Christ United Methodist Church, Betty married Thomas L. Kightlinger, who survives. Betty graduated from Smethport High School. She was very artistic as a young woman and worked at the Christmas Store in Smethport, painting lawn and window displays. Betty then worked for Allegany Central School as a bus driver. She then went to work as a fork truck and crane operator, and in shipping/receiving for Clark Brothers. Betty was the first female machinist to work for Clark Brothers also. She enjoyed going to Bingo at the Hinsdale American Legion. Along with her loving husband, Betty is survived by four children, Darla A. (Lawrence) Togrin, Richard "Paul" Malone, William J. Malone, and Max P. Malone; two step children, Thomas D. (Ann) Kightlinger, and Debby (Lenny) Alicea; five gandchildren; five step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Nancy Burdick. Betty was predeceased by two sisters, Maisie Norgrove and Dolores "Dodi" Rensel. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2015 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the National Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
