Born: Rosemarie Infinito on January 9, 1943 in Morristown, New Jersey. Died: July 29, 2015 in the Healthcare Center of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, New York. Daughter of Joseph Louis Infinito and Lena Marie D'Ottavio of Morristown, New Jersey. Sr. Rosemarie attended St. Vincent Martyr grade school from 1947-56 and Madison High School, both in Madison, NJ, graduating in 1960. After relocating to Florida in 1963, she accepted employment with Bell South and over the course of her career within the large telephone system successfully held positions as an accounting supervisor, staff specialist, and service representative. Years later, while living in the Tampa area, she became acquainted with the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany. She saw religious life as a way of living the Gospel, of being open to the Lord, and of sharing her life with others. Such a life promised to satisfy her deep need of serving others, evidenced by a steady involvement in her home parish where she devotedly served as sacristan, was on the liturgy board, served on retreats and, had established an AIDS ministry in the parish. After several years of friendship, sharing and worship with the Sisters, Sr. Rosemarie requested and was accepted as an Affiliate in 1993, entering the following year. She was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY, at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on August 11, 1994, and professed her final religious vows on September 8, 2001. During her Franciscan life, Sr. Rosemarie ministered in social work at the Dwelling Place of New York, caring for displaced women in need and later, provided loving care to those served by both the Daystar Life Center and Benedict Haven in St. Petersburg, Florida. From 2002-06, she ministered as the FSA Director of the Justice and Peace Center. Sr. Rosemarie was well known for being sensitive to the needs of others and particularly caring and gentle with the elderly. She retired from active service in 2011 and in 2013, was welcomed home by her sisters at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, New York. Sr. Rosemarie was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her brothers, Vincent and Michael, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Wake Service is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015 in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, NY.
