Max D. Hovey of 1243 Brook Street, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Max was born March 1, 1958 in Olean and was the son of Joann Skadowski Hovey. Max was a graduate of Olean High School. Max worked for the Beef and Barrel as a Baker for over 30 years. He loved sports and was a fan of the Yankees, the Sabres, and the Bills. Max loved to play softball and go golfing. He especially loved his music, the "Moody Blues" was his favorite. Max is survived by three brothers, Joseph (Kristin) Hovey of Olean, Wayde (Cindy) Hovey of Columbus, OH, and Gary Hovey of Salamanca; sister, Lori (Dave) Woods of Oklahoma; a brother-in-law, Gary Colby of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. Max was predeceased by his mother, Joanne Hovey; a sister, Gayle Colby; and an aunt, Patty Skadowski. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Friday, Oct. 30 2015 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at which time A Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of the St. Mary of the Angels Church. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
