Mike Cook, of 329 North 13th Street, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015 shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital following a pulmonary embolism.
Mike was born Nov. 9, 1954 in Olean and was a son of Robert F. and Betty Jane Wooten Cook. On June 18, 1977 in Olean he married his wife of 38 years, Noreen M. Langfitt, who survives.
Mike was a 1972 graduate of Olean High School. He worked at Dresser Industries as a Machinist since June of 1974. Mike was a member of the Local Steelworker's Union, where he was a past Vice President. He was also a member of the St. Stephen's Club and the Eagles Club. Mike coached for the Olean Area Midget Football League for the West End in Olean and for Little League and Senior League Baseball. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, and working on old boat motors. Mike truly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his loving wife, Mike is survived by two children, Daniel L. (Nicole) Cook of Olean, and Jeffrey M. (Kim Vanderhoef) Cook of Portville; four grandchildren, Lia, Nora, and Blake Cook of Olean, and Brayden Vanderhoef of Portville; and two sisters, Bernadette (Tom) Taylor of Cuba, and Barbara (Cook) Nelson of Palm Harbor, FL.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Robert F. Cook and Betty Jane Wooten Cook.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM , at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Kim E. Rossi, Rector of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
