Francisco G. "Frank" Cavazos, of 14 Genesee Parkway, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Frank was born Dec. 26, 1931 in Lyford, TX and was a son of Manuel F. and Estefana Garcia Cavazos. On June 16, 1955 in Essex Junction, VT, he married his wife of almost 49 years, Dorcas Leavitt, who predeceased him on June 9, 2004.
Frank served in the Air Force from 1951 to June 30, 1971. He worked for Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St. Alban's from 1971 to 1977. Frank then worked as the town clerk/treasurer in Swanton, VT from 1977 to 1994, when he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball. He was also an avid reader. Frank loved politics and kept up with the latest political news right up to the time he died. He took pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Frank is survived by two sons, Robert G. Cavazos of Essex Junction, VT, and John M. Cavazos of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Cathy (Mansel) Wells of Cuba; five grandchildren; two brothers, Victor (Irma) Cavazos of El Centro, CA, and Manuel H. (Juanita) Cavazos of Raymondville, TX; one sister, Mary M. Cavazos of Denton, TX; two sisters-in-law, Terry Cavazos of El Centro, CA, and Shirley (Larry) Leavitt-Wall of Swanton, VT; and several nieces & nephews.
Along with his loving wife, Frank was predeceased by a brother, Jose L. Cavazos.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Frank's son-in-law, The Reverend Mansel Wells, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cavazos family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at Kidder Memorial Home on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from Noon to 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba.
