John A. Cappellini, Sr., died November 24, 2015 after a lengthy illness at home with his family by his side.
John was born May 8, 1929 in Lynbrook, New York and was a son of Bartolomeo Calogera "Lilly" (Mancino) Cappellini. On January 30, 1955 he married his wife of sixty years Patricia Martenhoff Cappellini who survives him.
He Graduated from Malvern High School in 1945 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946 where he served as a Fireman, received the WWII Victory Medal, and was Honorably Discharged in 1948. He Graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and briefly attended Graduate School. John worked as an Electrical Engineer at Sperry Gyroscope in Great Neck, New York, and Acme Electric in Cuba, New York. He also operated a Dairy Farm in Cuba and Belfast, New York.
He is also survived by his nine children: John A. Cappellini, Jr., (Charlotte Martines-Cappellini) of Cuba, New York; Alice Bresney (Michael) of Altamont, New York; Kathryn Clark (Kevin) of Fairport, New York; Ellen Frost of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; James A. Cappellini (Cheryl Porta) of Falmouth, Massachusetts; Susan Gareau (George) of Naples, Florida; Albert M. Cappellini (Betsey Bonvissuto) of Amherst, New York; Thomas M. Cappellini (Katherine) of Sylvania, Ohio; Danial M. Cappellini (Malenna Jordan Cappellini) of Cashmere, Washington; fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and a brother Bartolomeo Cappellini (Diane) of Smithtown, New York. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Amy Bresney; and a sister Louise Ingoglia (Vincent) of Port Saint Lucy, Florida.
Friends and neighbors are encouraged to attend visitation which will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Nov. 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church at South Street, Cuba. The Rev. Dennis Mancusso, Pastor, will celebrate. John will be interred at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland, New York beside his granddaughter Amy. Father Mancusso will say a Wake Service in the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:30 pm.
