Obituary of Dolores A. Groth

Dolores A. Groth, formerly of Olean, passed away Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 at the Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Groth was born March 19, 1930 in Olean and was a daughter of Jeremiah and Willa Steele Toohey. On Nov. 10, 1951 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean, she married her husband of 47 years, Herman Groth, who predeceased her on July 13, 1999. Mrs. Groth was a 1948 graduate of Olean High School. She graduated from E.J. Meyer Memorial School of Nursing in Buffalo with her Bachelor's Degree. Mrs. Groth worked as a registered nurse for the Cattaraugus County Health Department in Olean for 23 years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. Groth was a member of the St. Mary of the Angels Church. She sang in the choir at St. Ann's in Florida. Mrs. Groth enjoyed golfing with her husband, Herman, but she truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Groth is survived by six children, Leslie (Jeff) Groth-Voorhees of Olean, Jeremiah (Colleen) Groth of Elmira, Richard (Pamela) Groth of Olean, Tracey (Dean) Groth of Myrtle Beach, SC, John (Terry) Groth of North Port, FL, and Robert (Julie) Groth of Olean; twelve grandchildren; two great granddaughters; two sisters, Joan (Theodore) Hoffman Florida Willa (Carlton) Weidt of Florida; and several nieces & nephews. Along with her loving husband, Mrs. Groth was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lindsey; and a sister, Jerrilee Preston. At Mrs. Groth's request, there will be no public visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at 1:45 PM at St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. David E. Tourville, Associate Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the St. Mary of the Angels Church, 202 South Union Street, Olean, New York 14760.
