Obituary of James W. Whitwood

James W. Whitwood of 2926 Rogers Road passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at home following an illness.
Mr. Whitwood was born May 3, 1937, in Friendship, NY and he is a son of Arthur and Maxine (White) Whitwood. On July 20, 1958 in Olean, he married Jean L. Larrabee, who predeceased him on Aug. 9, 2003.
Mr. Whitwood was a farmer, who worked for a number of farms in both Allegany and Cattaraugus County as well as in Bell, Fl. He lived for a number of years in Pasadena, CA. While he lived there, he worked on the floats for the Rose Bowl Parade. After moving back to Olean he worked as a truck driver. For the last 15 years, on & off, he delivered the new paper of the Olean Times Herald. Mr. Whitwood enjoyed square dancing, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Whitwood is survived by three sons, Raymond L. (Lisa) Whitwood of Allegany, NY, Robert J. (Rhonda) Whitwood of Bell, FL; and Benjamin F. (Destiny Clark) Whitwood of Allegany, NY; two daughters, Regina F. Whitwood of owling Green, KY, and Jody J. Whitwood of Allegany, NY; many many grandchildren & great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Whitwood of North Carolina; six sisters, Doria (Red) Cummins of Enterprise, AL, Jeanne (Giggs) Hadsell of Belmont, NY, Jackie (Ron) Harmon of Friendship, NY, Josephine (LeRoy) Taylor of Angelica, NY, Janet Hale of Friendship, NY, Sharon (Joseph) Garrido of Washburn, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitwood was pre-deceased by an infant son, James W. Whitwood at birth; a brother, Benjamin Whitwood; and a brother-in-law, Harry Hale.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, July 1, 2011 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at which time Funeral & Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Terry L. Jenks, Pastor of the Maplehurst Baptist Church, will celebrate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
