Obituary of Carl M. Trimm

Carl M. Trimm, Sr. of 350 Front Street, Aspen Tower, Apt. 210 passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 in the Millard Fillmore Gates Circle, Buffalo, following a brief illness. Mr. Trimm was born on Aug. 1, 1927 in Blossburg, Pa. and was a son of Seymour M. and Minie Sperin Trimm. On August 14, 1947 in Coudersport, Pa. he married Betty Eams, who survives. Carl survived in the US Marine Cor. during WWII from Sept. 27, 1945 to Nov. 14, 1946. He was in the US Navy Reserves for training from Jan. 31, 1950 to Oct. 5, 1950 and then back into the Marines Cor. during the Korean War from Oct. 6, 1950 to Feb. 5, 1952. Mr. Trimm and his family returned to the Olean area in 1956. He held various jobs through out his life including work for a Coal Co. delivering coal and he also worked at the Tonawanda Engine Plant in Buffalo for a period of time. Carl worked for Marra Brother Chrysler dealership in Olean for about 10 years as a mechanic retiring in 1990. He then went back to work at the Olean Times Herald in distribution depart as a motor route driver and later a substitute driver. Carl was a former member of the Olean Eagles & Moose Clubs and was currently a member of the Olean VFW. He enjoyed bowling and hunting. But his truly love was his family and he enjoyed spending time with them and especially his grand and great grandchildren. Surviving Mr. Trimm besides his wife of 63 years are a son, Carl M. (Doreen) Trimm, Jr. of East Aurora; four daughters, Julia L. (Lewis) Ludden and her daughter Elizabeth Vernon of Sun City, Az.; Victoria J. (Eddie) Tarkenton of Virginia Beach, Va., Anne M. Trimm of Erie, Pa., and Diane L. (Ray Dunham) Coats of Cuba; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Hammond of Port Allegany, and Betty (Harold) Miller of Morgantown Kentucky; and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Trimm was pre-deceased by a son Terrence J. Trimm on April 6, 2003; two brothers, Seymour W. Trimm, Jr. in 1962, and Frank Trimm in 2004; and a sister, Ethel Briggs in 1996. Friends will be received on Friday Feb. 18, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean where funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm The Rev. Barry J. Allaire will officiate. Burial will be in the Veterans Field of Honor in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean, New York.
