Florence T. Mosher of 206 South 3rd Street, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 in the Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Florence was born on January 9, 1938 in Olean and was a daughter of Richard James and Camellia C. Howe Kayes, Sr. She was formerly married to Andrew J. Bertron. Florence married Raynard H. Mosher who survives.
Florence was a 1956 graduate of Olean High School. She worked as a waitress at both "Paul's Stake House" and "Pickup's" for a couple of years before she began raising her family. Later for about 5 years she worked for "Project Head Start" from 1964 to 1969.
Florence was a life long and very active member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and taught Sunday school. She a special person who truly loved her family and enjoyed being with them and especially her grandchildren. Florence also enjoyed baking for her family and latchooking. Florence also volunteered at the Mental Health Association of Cattaraugus County for many years.
Florence is survived by four sons, Joseph C. Bertron of Meadville, PA, Samuel O. Berton of Ischua, Thomas R. (Cari) Mosher of Bolivar, and James H. (Magdalena) Mosher of Auburn; two daughters, Camellia E. (Billy) Lovell of Olean, and Elizabeth Randall of Cicero; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Kayes of Bolivar; two sisters, Camellia (Andy) Kayes-Peyatt of Lockport, and Mariam Ordway of Olean; and many nieces & nephews.
Florence was pre-deceased by a son, George M. Berton on July 17, 1994; two brothers, Richard and Henry Kayes; and a sister, Catherine E. Flanagan on July 4, 2005.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Sunday, November 27, 2011 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 12:30 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
