Virginia M. Marra of 1 Satellite Circle passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 in the Bradford Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Marra was born April 30 1929 in Bradford, PA and she was raised by her mother and stepfather Margaret Cunningham and Frank Schoolmaster. On May 8, 1954, Mrs. Marra married the love of her life of almost 57 years, Albert J. Marra, who pre-deceased her on April 30, 2011. Mrs. Marra was a graduate of Bradford High School. After graduating from high school, Mrs. Marra attended the Bradford School of Nursing where she received she Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Olean General Hospital until she retired in 1964. Mrs. Marra was a member of the St. Mary of the Angels Church. Mrs. Marra is survived by one son, A. James Marra, Jr. of Olean; one daughter, Patricia A. (Steven) Ragan of Spencerport; one granddaughter, Ashley M. Ragan of Boston, Mass; and three sisters, Betty (Bill) Halpenny of Smethport, Pa., Billie Williams of Johnstown, Pa., and Sue (Frank) Karmonocky of Johnstown, Pa. Besides her husband, Mrs. Marra was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy J. Ragan on Feb. 4, 2011, and a sister, Shirley Denning. There will be no public visitation. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 beginning with a prayer service in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western New York.
