Obituary of Ester G. Farris

Mrs. Ester G. Farris formerly of Eldred and Eden Heights in Olean passed away Tuesday April 12, 2011, in the Bradford Ecumenical Home. Mrs. Farris was born on December 26, 1912 in Eldred PA and was the daughter of the late Louis and Dora Abdo Gabriel. She was married her husband Farris A. Farris on June 6, 1938 in the St. Raphael's Church in Eldred. He predeceased her on August 31, 1991. Mrs. Farris was a life long resident of Eldred. She was a 1930 graduate of Eldred High School and she attended the West Brook Academy in Olean. Her family owned and operated "Gabriel's Men's Clothing Store and later she and her husband owned operated Farris Lady's Clothing Store until their retirement in the early 1980. Mrs. Farris was a member of both St. Raphael's Church in Eldred and St. Joseph's Maronite Rite Church in Olean. She loved her family and enjoyed taking trips to see them. Surviving Mrs. Farris are four sons, Paul L. Farris of South Windsor, Ct., John L. (Janice) Farris, MD of Red hill, PA, James M. (Terry) Farris of Columbus, OH, and Richard D. (Wendy) Farris of Westchester, OH; 11 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Farris is predeceased by one daughter, Ann Marie Farris on July 24, 1956; three brothers, Fredrick Gabriel, MD in Aug. 1985, Louis Gabriel, MD on May 5, 1995, and Joseph Gabriel in May of 2002; and one sister Victoria Fagouri in July 1999. Friends will be received on Thursday, April 14, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011 beginning with a prayer service in the Funeral Home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Maronite Church at 10:00 am. The Rev. MSGR Ignace Sadek, Pastor, will celebrate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY. The Rev. MSGR Sadek say an insent service will be held in the funeral home Thursday evening at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Joseph Maronite Rite Church 331 N. 4th Street, Olean, NY, 14760 or to the St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church #16 1st Street, Eldred PA 16731.
