Nathan B. Edwards, Sr. (93) of 101 Ponder Lane, formally of County Route 60 Rexville, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at St Francis East Hospital, Greenville, S.C.
Mr. Edwards was born April 26, 1917 in Whitesville. He was the eldest son of eleven children born to Herbert A. and Rose Mary Church Edwards. On March 8, 1952 in Canisteo he married Ila B. Parks who predeceased him October 15, 2009.
Mr. Edwards was a life long farmer, a hard worker who enjoyed the simple things in life; the changing of the seasons, loved hunting and the outdoors, a good laugh, visiting friends and holding a baby. He was known for his quick wit and telling children tall tales. Upon retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling visiting family. In his latter years they lived with his daughter, JoAnne, who took excellent care of them.
Surviving Mr. Edwards are a son, Nathan B. (Virginia) Edwards Jr. of Cuba, NY; two daughters, JoAnne E. (Jack) Zeager of Taylors, SC, and Polly D. (David) Pinho of Pleasanton, CA; a step-daughter, Barbara A. Eisenbeis of Scotts Valley, CA; a daughter-in-law, Beverly A House-Stroud of Deland, FL; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Carroll Eugene (Midge) Edwards of Bath, NY; a sister, Wilma Skinner of Olean, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to Mr. Edwards wife, he was predeceased by a step-son, Richard House; three brothers, Ronald, Herbert and Charles Edwards; five sisters, Luella VanSkiver, Evelyn Hann, Velma Rhude, Iva Lou Trant and infant Joyce Edwards.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba on Saturday, February 26, 2011 from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at which a memorial service will be held. Mr. Charles R. Emerson, will officiate. Burial will be in the Whitesville Rural Cemetery, Whitesville, NY.
