Obituary of Le Roy J. Blake

LeRoy J. Blake of 4203 Hamilton Hill Road, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 in the Olean General Hospital due to medical complication. Mr. Blake was born on June 23, 1929 in Rushford and was a son of McKinley and Margaret Whitcher Blake. On July 3, 1950 he married his wife of 58 years, Betty J. Seamon, who pre-deceased him on March 2, 2008. LeRoy worked for Portville Sand & Gravel for a number of years and then for A L Blades in Belmont. He retired in 1986 after about 20 years with A L Blades. LeRoy enjoyed farming and gardening and he was one of the first Judges at the Cuba Garlic Festival when it first started. Most of all, LeRoy loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them and being a part of the their lives. Surviving Mr. Blake are two sons, Daniel Blake and Darryl (Cheryl) Blake both of Cuba; five daughters, Darlene Blake, Georganne (Robert) Carney, Melanie Blake, Sherry (Robert) Zajicek, and Kathleen (Jeffrey) Cummins all of Cuba; 17 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Linda) Blake of Portville; a sister, Elsie (Robert) Watkins of Tucson, AZ; a sister in law, Jane Blake of Portville; and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Blake was predeceased by four siblings Virginia Price, Arthur Blake, Kenny Blake & Alice Fye. Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy. Cuba on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Patrick T. Lyons, Pastor of the Gospel Fellowship Church in Belmont will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
