Steven L. Balser of 4115 South Nine Mile Road, Valley View Estates, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at home from injuries sustained in an altercation. Steve was born on Jan. 2, 1953 in Cabin Creek, West Virginia and was a son of Ivan and Elizabeth McGraw Balser. He was formerly married to Debra George and Carla Deibler. Steve worked for a number of places including the Olean Rehabilitation Center where he drove bus for about 10 years from about 1987 to about 1997. He enjoyed being in the outdoor's hunting & fishing & camping and he enjoyed working on some local farms part time. Surviving Steve are two daughters, Stephanie A. Balser of Chesterfield, MI, and Stacy L. (Patrick) Donavan of Waterford, MI; a grandson, Andre M. Balser; two brothers, D. Shawn Balser of High Point, NC, and Gary (Susan) Balser of Austin, Texas; a sister, Jeannie (Jim) Linkowski of Niagara, Falls; and three nieces and two nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 4, 2011 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson, Pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
