Daughter of Margaret Mary Stoeber and Charles Clement Stoeber formerly of Erie, PA
Received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York, at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on August 15, 1942, and professed her final religious vows on August 16, 1949.
Sister Charles Francis faithfully lived the Mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany serving God's people in various ministries. From 1943 until 1965 Sister ministered as an educator at St. Elizabeth School, Croghan, NY; St. Francis School, Ft. Myers, FL; St. Helen School, Rochester, NY; St. Bonaventure School, Allegany, NY; St. Mary School, Rome, NY; St. Mary School, Lampasas, TX; Christ the King School, Haddonfield, NJ; St. Louis School, Alexandria, VA; and St. John School, Olean, NY. In 1965 Sister Charles Francis began new ministries of service to her Franciscan sisters and the elderly at: Villa Mary Immaculate, Albany, NY; St. Henry's, Averill Park, NY; St. Francis House, Woonsocket; RI; and St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, NY. Sister returned to ministry in schools in 1977 at St. Joseph School, Niagara Falls, NY as a remedial reading teacher, librarian and religious education teacher in the parish. In 1987 Sister Charles Francis retired and volunteered in the laundry at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse. In her retirement Sister Charles Francis continued the Franciscan Mission of prayer, hospitality and service to others.
Sister Charles Francis received her B.S. in Education from St. Elizabeth Teachers College.
Sister Charles Francis Stoeber was predeceased by her parents and brother, Charles Stoeber. Her survivors include sisters Rosemary Heintz, Elizabeth Barron, nieces and nephews and her Franciscan Sisters of Allegany.
A Wake Service is scheduled on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 29, 2008. Interment will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, New York.
