Michael J. Swarthout, of 2200 NE 19th St., formerly of Cuba and New York City, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at his residence following a brief illness. Michael was born Oct. 17, 1957 in Cuba and was a son of Merle W. and Elizabeth Wood Swarthout. He married the former Evelio Cuellar, who predeceased him Oct. 14, 2014. Michael worked as a Claims Supervisor for Chubb Insurance Company, in New York City until his retirement. Michael is survived by one brother, Tom (Carianne) Swarthout of Hamburg; three sisters, Patricia (Melvin) Bradfuhrer of Lakeview, Teresa (Roger) Shaffer of Warsaw, IN, and Mary (Timothy) Botens of Black Creek; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great Nephews. Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba Monday, Jan. 18, 2016 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Dennis Mancuso, Pastor of Our Lady of Angels Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Our Lady of Angels Church, Cuba. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made in Mike's name to the Arch Bishop Walsh High School, 208 North 24th Street, Olean, New York 14760.
