Arlan Richard "Dick" Stringer, of 301 West Henley Street, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his home. Dick was born on Aug. 8, 1943 in Olean and was a son of Wilburn E. and Edith A. Lundquist Stringer. He was formerly married to Theresa Stringer. Dick attended Olean High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served from August 19, 1960 to September 13, 1963. Dick worked as a machinist for many years at several locations, including Dresser Rand in Olean, Rochester and New Brunswick, Canada. He enjoyed going to the Casino and was known as a good cook. Dick is survived by two siblings, Wilburn E. "Bill" (Delores) Stringer of East Aurora, and Suzanne M. (Graham) Hughes of Cuba. Dick was predeceased by a son, Richard "Ricky" Stringer on June 28, 2007. At Dick's request, there will be no Public Visitation or Services. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery at the family's convenience. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean.
