Obituary of Charles R. Stimson

Charles R. Stimson, 91, of 2576 Button Rd., passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center, following an illness. Charles was born on Nov. 2, 1924 in Lyndon Center and was a son of Clarence Pratt and Ruby Scott Stimson. On Sept. 13, 1948 in Bad Richenal, Germany, he married his wife of 59 years, Christine L. Scheade, who predeceased him on May 30, 2008. Charles attended Hinsdale Central School. He served in the US Army from Nov. 16, 1945 to Dec. 11, 1948. Charles worked for Clark Brothers then Dresser for over 30 years, retiring about 1986. He was a life member of the Hinsdale American Legion and a member of the Dresser Retirees Group. Charles was formerly a member of the Hinsdale Fire Department. He enjoyed being outdoors, including hunting and fishing. Charles like video taping gatherings, and he truly loved his family. Charles is survived by two sons, Steve R. (Mary Ann Sawaya) Stimson of Hinsdale, and Rick D. Stimson of California; two daughters, Evelyn M. (Donald E.) Johnson of LeRoy, and Diana L. (Timothy M.) Scull of Olean; seven grandchildren, Angela M. Greenaker, Kevin P. Smith, Amy M. Dendy, Sarah A. Kirschner, James, Nicholas, and Justin R. "Bob" (Christina) Stimson; seven great grandchildren, Joshua W. and Victoria M Greenaker, Mckayla A., Mallory J., and Marilyn C. Kirschner, Alexis M. and Claire Dendy; and three siblings, Mary Dukett of Little Rock, AK, Frank Stimson of Oregon, and Janice Hutchinson of California. Along with his loving wife, Charles was predeceased by three siblings, Wayne and Donald Stimson, and Ella Mae Smith. There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on June 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Mr. Monroe Bishop, Elder at the Hinsdale Methodist Church, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Hinsdale American Legion, #1434 Route 16 North, Hinsdale, New York 14743.
