Daughter of Peter and Rose (Polo) of Niagara Falls, NY.
Sister Rosa Mystica was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, NY at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on August 15, 1948 and professed her final religious vows on August 16, 1955. For 68 years, Sister Rosa Mystica was devoted to the life and Mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany.
Sister attended grade school at St. Joseph School and high school at Niagara Falls High, both in Niagara Falls. She graduated from St. Elizabeth Teacher�s College in Allegany, NY, (now a part of St. Bonaventure University) graduating with her Bachelor�s in Education in 1966. In 1981, she received a Master�s in Educational Administration from Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY.
For most of her years, Sister ministered in the field of education as a teacher in schools in Texas, Florida and New Jersey and as principal at Assumption School, Pomona, NJ, Christ the King in Snyder, NY, St. John School, Olean, NY and St. Barnabas School in Depew, NY. Sr. Rosa Mystica served the congregation as Administrator of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse from 2005 � 2008 after which she relocated to Snyder, NY and volunteered at Heart, Love, Soul, Inc. for six years. After 65+ years of active ministry, Sister Rosa Mystica was welcomed home to retire at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in 2015.
Sister Rosa Mystica is predeceased by her parents, Peter and Rose. She is survived by her brother, John, and her nieces, Theresa and Margaret Niedda.
A Wake Service is scheduled for Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 6:30 PM in the Chapel at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, NY. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 9:00 AM in the Chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, followed by burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY.
The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean, NY.
