Mildred W. Montgomery formerly of Olean, died on Sunday July 31, 2016 in the Dock Terrace Nursing following a brief illness. Mildred was born March 25, 1932 in Cuba, NY and was a daughter of the late Jolee D. and Irene Ludden Witter. On Sept. 22, 1956 she married Warren W. Kenerson, who pre-deceased her June 22, 1958. On July 25, 1976 in Olean First Baptist Church she married Ronald G. Montgomery who pre-deceased her on April 1, 2006. Mildred graduated from the State School of Nursing in Buffalo in 1951 and at the age of 22 enlisted in the US Navy and served for two years from Oct. 22, 1954 to Oct. 21, 1956. She returned to University of Buffalo receiving her Masters in Nursing in 1961. Mildred worked as a nurse at Buffalo General, Brady Maternity Hospital and St. James Mercy in Hornell. She began working Olean General Hospital as a Assent Director of Nursing and then St. Francis Hospital as In-service Education Director and Patient Advocate before retiring in 1984. Mildred also served as a Nursing Faculty member at Alfred Agricultural and Technical College and later Alfred University. She moved to Lansdale, Pa in 2011. Mildred was a 30 year member at both Cuba First Baptist and Olean First Baptist Churches. She was know as a very caring & loving person who had committed both her personal and professional life encouraging and helping others. She enjoyed music, crocheting, writing notes and sending cards and reading. Surviving Mildred are a daughter, Joan K. (Rev. Michael) King of Telford, Pa; two step sons, Gary J. (Karen) Montgomery of Kuaka Park, NY, and Richard L. "Dick" (Mary) Montgomery of Penfield, NY; three granddaughters, Kristy (Adam Hamilton) King, Katelyn King and Rachael (Michael) Harnish; five step grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Matt & Ryan Montgomery and Kristen Dickenson; three great grandchildren, Kadyn, Madelyn and Maya; a brother, Elmer "Ray" (Reba) Witter of Ocala, Fl.; a sister, Frances W. (Norman) Gallagher of Port Jervis, NY; one nephew and five nieces. Mildred was predeceased by a niece Robyn L. Witter in 2015. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Genesee Pkwy, Cuba on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Friends will also be received on Wednesday August 3, 2016 from 9:00am to 10:00am in the Cuba First Baptist Church at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Dennis J. Stack, Interim Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cuba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jolee Witter Scholarship Fund at Cuba First Baptist Church.
